Reflective Writing

Going round the National gallery, I enjoyed doing studies of the work with being able to see the brushstrokes and focus on elements of the work such as the composition. The landscape paintings grabbed me with the way a scene was built up with such techniques to create mainly the skys and less the land. For the impressionist paintings, being able to see every single colour block from Monet and an unfinished Manet allowed for a deeper understanding of how the work was created. I also enjoyed using an ink pen to draw with as it allowed me to quickly observe and study the paintings.
